BRITISH and Russian shipping and freight forwarding companies have agreed the details of a regular groupage service for container traffic to Japan and Hong Kong via the Trans-Siberian Land Bridge.

MAT Transport (Overseas) Ltd and Comprehensive Shipping I.td have formed a joint venture to develop the facilities of this service on behalf of the UK

principals Anglo Soviet Shipping Co Ltd.

With effect from August I

1974 the new MATComprehensive operation will eater for all Eastbound groupage traffic from Britain to the Far East by the Trans-Siberian route.

Initially the service will operate from Comprehensive Shipping's Cornclear Terminal in East Lond'on. MAT-Comprehensive hope to offer consolidation facilities from Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow later this year.

Equipment used on this route will be 20ft and 40ft dry box containers.
