• Barrow Borough Transport could be broken up between several buyers, says financial consultant Price Waterhouse, which has run the municipallyowned company since it was placed in administrative receivership last month with debts which are estimated to be approaching 21 million.
'There's a possibility that the company could be split up because by law we are dutybound to sell each component of the group to the highest bidder," says Price Waterhouse's Mark Napton.
He emphasises, however, that most of the dozen or so interested parties want to keep some kind of transport service operating in the area. "The people coming round are serious about keeping the buses on the road," he says.
