Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Chelsea Power Take Off Plant is doubling production of its Chelsea 812 power takeoff unit announced at last year's Motor Show. Production began on 1 November and the planned output for that month was sold out in four days.

The Chelsea 812 Power Drive pt-o has been developed exclusively for the Eaton TS0 11612 heavy-duty truck transmissions and, says the company, i represents a new concept n pt-o design.

The "stepped up" gearing, although having a significantly higher numeric ratio, giving an output speed 125% higher than the input speed, suffers no loss in torque and power delivery and offers greater all-round operating economy.

The 812 unit maintains an output torque capacity of 57kW (76hp) or 475Nm (350 lbft) at 1,000rpm, but at considerably reduced engine and transmission speeds.

Fitting the standard sidemount SAE bolt transmission aperture, the Chelsea 812 pt-o offers a choice of shift arrangements including air or cable and with output drives to suit DIN 5462 pump outputs.

Parallel or tapered keyed shafts to suit 1100, 1300 and 1400 series companion flanges allow a range of output options to suit the widest possible choice of applications to be considered.

The Chelsea PTO company belongs to the Drivetrain Division of Dana, based at Briery Hill, West Midlands. Chelsea's own close-coupled hydraulic pump assembly is also compatible with the 812 unit, providing a complete pt-o pump package with up to 80 litres per minute (18gal per minute) capacity at a pt-o output speed of only 1,00Orpm.
