GOVERNMENT plans for legal guidelines on how earsharing motorists may charge passengers for the running costs of the journey have now been dropped.
An amendment to the Transport Bill has been moved deleting proposals which would have enabled the Government to fix charging arrangements.
The Government now feels that the question of how much to charge is best left to the car sharers themselves, although it is stressed that the Transport Bill will still prohibit motorists from making a profit.
