One of the objects of the Foster Committee was to recommend anything that will improve road safety. Then why was no evidence offered to the inquiry by either the RAF or the Institute for Terotechnology?

The RAF has the finest maintenance system there is, and maintenance spells safety. We are helped in this by putting our statistics in to ,a central computer, and the officer interviewed by CM last year (CM, June 16) was dead right when he said that if operators in Britain got together, say through the RHA and the ETA, to do this similarly, it would be a boon for British operators and manufacturers.

For a comparatively small sum — cheaper than many of Foster's recommendations — the Government could help our economic position and improve safety, and the one, of course, helps the other.
