LEYLAND'S Vehicles' high hopes for the Leyland National in Moscow may never come to fruition if Hungarian bus manufacturer Ikarus gets its own way.
.Ikarus recently announced that it has handed over the 50,000-th bus it has specially made for the Soviet Union. It also is developing new types of luxury coaches and larger-capacity and well equipped articulated suburban buses.
The company is also co-operating with the Soviet Union to produce "hydromechanical" automatic transmissions for buses.
