Picketing code

'Freight Transport Association members are being urged to consult local strike committees to remove secondary pickets engaged in the lorry drivers' strike.

Following discussions with national Transport and General Workers' Union officer Jack Ashwell, FTA has instructed its 15,000 member companies to follow a procedure which will end secondary picketing.

They should first contact strike committees, and if that fails, should attempt to arrive at similar arrangements with the Union's regional secretary.

In the event of failure at this level, they are advised to get in touch with FTA either at regional or head office level.
