Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Cor-Ten steel, a material noted for its ,ceptionally high strength and corrosion sistance — which until now has been ?ailable from most bodybuilders only as an tra-cost option — is being adopted as andard on the Super Ratesaver chassisless pping semi-trailers built by Neville dustries (Mansfield) Ltd.

A reduction in material thickness, and onsequently in body weight, is made issible through Cor-Ten's higher tensile strength, of 32/38 tons /sq in. Earlier Super Ratesaver bodies have been constructed in normal high-tensile steel. On the large capacity 32 tons gew models a weight-saving of up to 2cwt is achieved.

In tipper application Cor-Ten has an advantage through its resistance to conditions combining corrosion and abrasion, given by its high copper, chromium and phosphorus content. Normal corrosion in an industrial atmosphere occurs six times faster with mild steel than with Cor-Ten, it is claimed. Standard high tensile steel falls midway between the two on speed of corrosion.

Special repair facilities are unnecessary with the new material as normal electrode welding procedures are followed.

No increase in price is being made for the Super Ratesaver range as a result of the uprated specification.
