• April I is the date from which drivi of road passenger vehicles with more th nine seats including the driver will ha to comply with certain EEC rules if th are travelling from the UK to or throu another member country of the Communi The rules apply to professional drivi and to private motorists who are in chat of a minibus.
The driver must be at least 21 and mi not drive for more than eight hours a d (or nine hours a day on two days a wee] He must rest after four hours continuo driving and his rest periods must incluck minimum of 10 consecutive hours da rest in 24 hours. This minimum rest peri, can be varied to two periods of nine hou two of 10 hours and two of 11 hours week. In every seven days he must ha a rest period of at least 24 consecuti hours immediately preceded or follow by the daily rest. The total number hours driving must not exceed 48 in sev consecutive days or 92 in 14 consecuti days.
The driver will have to record drivii and rest periods on a model form col prising daily and weekly sheets. Fro July 1 a control document, which w supersede journey licensing requiremen for individual countries, will have to I carried.
