Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE ROAD Haulage Association (RHA) claims "two or three" new truck parks may be needed close to Tilbury and Shell Haven ports to cope with demand.

Chrys Rampley, manager for infrastructure, environment and business affairs at the RHA, says decision-makers must back plans for secure HGV parking facilities in the area to support the ports, which are undergoing development and expansion.

The comments follow the decision by Thurrock Council's planning committee to reject proposals for 130 HGV spaces, as well as a new access road and facilities building from Lan pro Services for a secure overnight lorry park on a site opposite the A13 in North Stifford, Essex.

However, the decision could be reversed by the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation at its planning committee meeting in March.

-The area urgently needs truck parking facilities. It could he that two or three truckstops are eventually built in the area. The site near the A13 is just one of the options available," says Ram pley.

Thurrock Council has set up a working group to examine potential truck park sites
