Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Iwrite concerning the old adage "Catch-22" I faced when I first became a Class 1 driver on leaving the forces as a tank transporter driver with a great deal of experience in heavy and indivisible loads.

When applying for driving jobs the answer was usually: "Sorry, but you haven't got any experience." But how do I gain experience if I can't get a job? I now face the same problem again. Due to a medical condition I can no longer drive LGVs, so I retrained myself and obtained my CPC (national and international) as well gained computer skills.

After applying for well over 100 vacancies in transport management and only being invited for five interviews, the old answer is appearing again: "Sorry but no, due to lack of experience in management."

Surely there are transport companies out there somewhere which are willing to give me/us a chance. I'm a driver with 30-plus years' experience in national and international work, as well as having a national and international CPC.

If anyone else out there is in a similar predicament please write in and tell us— I'm sure I'm not the only one in the Catch-22 situation. RJ Lister,
