A DOE spot check only takes ten minutes, If your vehicle is overdue for Plating or Annual Testing, you risk a fine of up to £100. So it pays you to know the DOE Plating and Testing regulations.

Most goods vehicles of over 30 cwt., and trailers over 1 ton unladen weight are subject to plating and testing.

Should you be in any doubt about your own vehicle, the essential informatioo is contained in the application forms. For first tests forms VTG 1A (motor vehicles) or VTG2A (trailers): for subsequent tests form VTG 40.
