• A lorry driver who admitted that during one period in August last year his working day covered more than 24 hours was fined a total of £90 at Chorley magistrates' court last week.
After pleading guilty by letter, the driver, Edward William Lawson, Adlington, Lancashire, who works for his father, Mr William Currie Lawson, of the same address, was fined £50 for making a false driver's record, £20 for exceeding the 10 hours' driving limit, £20 for working beyond the 12+ hour spread-over in one day, and ordered to pay £10 costs.
