The models listed range up to the 25 b,.p. four-tonner, and there is a variety of chars-it-bancs, ambulances, miners' rescue cars, etc. Amongst the contents is a number of testimonials from satisfied owners of Star vehicles and a list of some of the more important useYs.

A New Journey Recorder.

Many owners of industrial vehicles desire to have a complete record of the movements of their machines during the day's run: something in addition to the evidence offered by a speedometer.

The Juarus speed and journey recorder outlines an automatic diary of the car's movements from the time it leaves its garage to when_ it returns ; the device records the number and duration of all stops made, Tampering with Jurus mechanism is impossible.

and from this information the speed of the vehicle at any particular time can be readily ascertained. The Rums recorder comprises a strong dust proof case which contains high-class clockwork mechanism, and a drum fitted in place of the usual lingers. This drum carries a sensitized paper strip which it draws from a bobbin ; the strip is marked off in minutes ; it takes the place of the ordinary dial.

To obtain the relation between time and distance a phosphor-bronze " pencil" is moved across the paper by means of a snail-cam which rotates once in each mile travelled; • at the drop in the cam the pencil is rapidly pulled hack, and a practically vertical line is traced. Owing to the paper being specially sensitized the point is enabled to make quite a distinct mark. The apparatus is driven off the front road wheel by the method similar to that used in driving taximeters, and a worm-gear is utilized to obtain the necessary reduction for the snail-cam.

As the drum rotates at a constant speed, and the pencil moves at a corresponding speed to that of the ear, it will be understood that any alteration of carspeed will be indicated on the paper-strip, and the A portion of the chart reproduced.

rate of travel for each mile can be found from the number of minute spaces between each vertical line.

When the vehicle stops the pencil remains stationary, and the rotation or the drum, driven by the clockwork, causes a horizontal line to be drawn ; the length of this line corresponding to the length of stop. We illustrate herewith a Jurus device, together with a diagram of its typical markings.

The sole agency for the Jurus recorder is held by the Automobile Exchange (1014), Ltd., 01, Great Portland Street, London, W.

Trunks for Business Vehicles.

It is interesting to note that J. B. Brooks and Co., Ltd., Birmingham, the well-known manufacturer of high class leather goods, is specializing in the production of leather or composition trunks for use on business vehicles. This long-established concern is well reputed throughout the pleasure-car industry for the highly-finished car-equipment specialities it produces, but the manufacture of the leather footboard trunk for adaptation to industrial vehicles is a more recent departure. Our illustration shows one fitted which is particularly suitable for commercial travellers.

This trunk is made in several sizes, and can be fitted to any class of machine. As will be seen from the illustration, the attachment considerably adds to the appearance of the vehicle. It is quite representative of the high, grade of Brooks' specialities.
