Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Addition of a Primrose Rear-a-Steer thirdaxle assembly just ahead of the driving axle on the BMC Boxer two-axle truck raises its plated gross weight from 14.25 to 20 tons. This conversion has now been introduced by the Primrose Third Axle Co. Ltd., Blackburn, Lancs.

The conversion comprises a single-tyred self-steering axle on Dunlop Pneuride airsuspension which adjusts itself automatically to the load being carried, and unladen weight is increased by only 19cwt.

Braking and air springing pressures are controlled by Westinghouse load-sensing valves and air can be exhausted from the suspension units should it be necessary to transfer maximum load to the driving axle temporarily for better adhesion on a slippery surface.

The conversion's list price is £762, plus £120 for fitting carried out at the Primrose works.
