• The National Guild of Transport Managers has issued its first newsletter this month.
Contents include details of the aims of the Guild, news that the national executive council is to be elected, target figures for membership and extracts from a PIB report on salaries. The Guild's general secretary, Mr. Frank P.
Coult, writes on the dangers in the TM L scheme and a warning that the introduction of the licensing system could cause difficulties for transport managers.
The Guild was formed last June but already claims a membership of 150, including Mr. Peter Walker MP. who is an honorary member.
Membership is open to any individual who will eventually be required to hold a TML, whether he is owner driver, or the director of a haulage company or an employed transport manager.
The MoT has approved the Guild for its list of "interested parties" for the circulation of draft regulations and the Guild is also pressing the Minister to be included on the Transport Managers' Certification Board, if this is set up.
Further details of the Guild may be obtained from the general secretary, 363 Hainton Avenue, Grimsby, Lincs.
