Charles Dowding, export admin manager, Bedford Commerical Vehicles, was among those to risk New Zealand on a fact-finding tour (see also p.16).
Mr Dowding found the dew Zealanders highly asourceful people. One empany fits automatic ransmission to its Bedfords. Vhen the time comes to sell he vehicle, the company ekes out the auto and sells he lorry as a manual — and very good condition.
Incidentally, I hear that, ince the British Overseas rade Board-sponsored visit, he New Zealand iovernment has decided to 3duce vehicles sales tax reM 40 per cent to 10 per ant by April 1,1980.
