Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

'THE 1.960 edition of " The Commercial I. Motor Tables of Operating Costs" was published on Wednesday, and is available from booksellers price 3s. Ed., or 4s. by post from Temple Press Limited. The Tables are now to be published annually instead of every two years as before.

Since the publication of the previous edition in 1958, there have been major changes affecting operating costs. These include the abolition of purchase tax on goods-vehicle chassis, and a reduction in the rate of this tax on cars as from April 8, 1959.

Hackney-carriage rates of duty have also been reduced, whilst there have been increases in wages paid to haulage, road passenger and maintenance workers, and variations in the prices' of fuel, tyres and other items.

The effect of all these changes has been allowed for in the 1960 edition of the Tables, which includes details of operating expenses of most types of goods and passenger vehicle. The opportunity has also been taken to rearrange the grouping of vehicles to provide more ready comparison of appropriate types. There has also been some readjustment of weekly mileages relative to current usage.

A new section is devoted to "Organizations Concerned with Road Transport." Regular features retained, in addition to the nine Tables of costs, include an introduCtory definition of the principles and terms employed in the Tables, and recommended vehicle and tyre recording systems.

Addresses of Licensing Authorities. Traffic Commissioners and secretaries of road transport organizations are also given, together with an extract of haulage wage rates (R.H. 68), and a 10-year comparison of costs.
