FROM Dennis Brothers,' Ltd., Woodbridge Works, Guildford, Surrey, comes patent No. 732,023, which deals with an improved type of low-loading refuse-collecting vehicle.
The improvements reside mostly in the general layout of the vehicle. As illustrated in the drawing, the driver's cab is set well over to the off side, leaving room for the loading hopper to be located beside it. The lid (1) is raised to fill the hopper and when it is full a hydraulically operated presser-plate moves from position 2 to position 3, and pushes the material into the main body space. A small door (4) permits the bottom of the hopper to be cleared of stray material.
The body terminates at panel 5 and the space behind this is open and is fitted with tip-up seats to carry the crew.: Emptying is performed by tipping the whole body by means of a pair of hydraulic rams' (6),
