Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

VW's Crafter made its used-market debut at Manheim's Coventry auction house, fetching strong residuals. Kevin Swallow reports.

It was launched last year, and the first clutch of Volkswagen Crafter vans have now made their used trade debut at a closed sale.

Following the precedents set by th e Volkswagen's middleweight T5 Transporter and car-derivedvan Caddy, expectations were running high.

Based on its opening performance. Manheim's commercial vehicles sales director Alex Wright is confident the model will do well. "The Crafter will follow the marketleading residuals of the Caddy and'r5 which have been created by the very strong dealer network that has developed over the last few years," he says.

"The success of these three commercial vehicle ranges also validates Volkswagen's investment in a dedicated commercial brand supplying the needs of commercial customers."

Up for grabs to members of the VW Assured Van Centre network were 13 06-registered medium and long-wheelbase panel vans and dropsiders.

The average price was £17,400, although the pick of the bunch was a standard MWB panel van Crafter 109 with a high-roof which sold for 132% of CAN price forecast for clean condition.

It moved the editor of CAP's Red Book,David Fildes, to say demand for the Crafter is -showing all the early sips of being one of the used-vehicle market leaders." •
