Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Rikki Chequer, community manager of the popular drivers' website TruckNet UK, reviews the topics currently being discussed online.

11 has been said that drivers will talk about almost anything... this week TruckNet UK asked: "What is the hot topic at your workplace?"

Apparently talk in the depots includes redundancies, who this week's 'blue-eyed boys' are. pay negotiations, the secretary's all-over suntan, and the eternal chocolatedigestive-vs-HobNob debate.

Drivers who persist on taking a break on the fuel pumps at truckstops and motorway service areas incur the wrath of some drivers on the site: "an inconsiderate twit was one of the more printable comments.

This also inspired some contributors to comment on the standard of driving; one said: "It gets worse all the time."

On TruckNet UK we have tried to recognise the important role that those at home play while the driver is away, often all week and in some cases much longer.

A discussion in the 'family room' is based around whether it is better for a family, and especially for children, If a driver is away for days on end but Is happy in his or her job and comes home at weekends delighted to see their kids — or whether drivers with kids should consider taking jobs with little or no lob satisfaction that allow them to be at home every night.

Reading Services come under the drivers' spotlight, In particular the 'travellers' who appear to be living there, and the MSA's apparent failure to address the problems this causes.

Drivers on TruckNet UK are not slow to pant out that Reading MSA officials clamp any truck that dares to park anywhere outside the truck bays for even a few minutes, while the 'travellers' seem to be immune from clamps, fines and being towed away.

These are just some of the many discussions and debates going on at TruckNet UK. To read more, or to have your say, go to www.TruckNetUK.com
