• Hays Group chairman Ronnie Frost is wealthier than the Queen, according to the Sunday limes Rich List 2001.

Road transport and parcels firms are well represented in this year's guide to the richest 1,000 people in Britain and Ireland, headed by Frost who comes in at number 97 Frost is thought to be worth £325m—about £25m more than the Queen, who came in at n umber 105.

Eddie Stobart is no stranger to the list but he has slipped from last year's ranking of 447 to 669. A tough year in haulage has sliced £20m off the valuation of the company, says Joint owner Edward Stobart. The company is now thought to be worth 15am.

Parcels firms also feature in the list. Peter and Michael Kane, who run Business Post, corm in at number 375 with a combined fortune of £90m. Peter Neumark, who co-founded Target Express Parcels, and lain Sharp, who was a director of the company, share 669th place with 150m each.

Michael Bibby, who is a director of the liverpoolbased shipping and distribution group Bibby Line, comes in at 418 with £80m. He shares that position with Glyn and Ron Davies, who built up their wealth through transport firm Russell Davies. They now run Suffolk-based Banbury Holdings.
