Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cutting in front of a rival operator's bus cost Thomas Parfitt, managing director of Parfitts Motor Services, of Rhymney Bridge, Gwent, 190 in fines when he appeared before the Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates.

Parfitt denied failing to give due consideration to other road users and to failing to stop at a red light. It was alleged that while driving one of his company's buses, Parfitt pulled out in front of a National Welsh Bustler minibus and went through a red traffic light. The driver of the Bustler was so angry at the way Parfitt had been driving that he stopped his bus to complain and then

reported the incident to the police.

Defending, Patrick Harrington said that to a coach proprietor, competition with rival firms was an important matter. The magistrates would have to weigh up the conflicting stories of the two drivers.

The magistrates convicted Parfitt, fining him a total of 2190 and endorsing his driving licence with five penalty points.
