• HDL Engineering has bought the assets of EM Trucks in Leicester — the first acquisition since its management buyout from Hillsdown in January (CM 25-31 January).
The 80,000m2 workshop, which will lose the name EM Trucks, also includes a parts factoring operation. This will now be called Merradell 'Truck and Bus Parts. EM Trucks had an annual turnover of £750,000.
HDL Engineering managing director Paul Clarke says takeover deals are also beitig negotiated in Leeds and London. The company plans to establish a network of 36 commercial vehicle repair workshops throughout the country.
