Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• international removals specialist Whittle Movers intends to acquire a European removals company in the run-up to the Single European Market in 1992.

The company has more than doubled its turnover, workforce and fleet in the 12 months since partners Jim Morris and Max Godfrey bought out the family-owned Bamber Bridge business for £250,000. It now has a staff of 42, and 38 vehicles.

"Our expansion has mostly come from Europe rather than the UK, where there is a slump in the removals market," says Godfrey. "We have picked up a lot of work through the Eurovan network and now 80% of our outside staff are on the European side. We want to either acquire outright or buy into a European removals company to take advantage of the many opportunities the creation of the Single European Market will bring."
