• A device for securing nuts and bolts, widely used in construction and engineering is now being launched for use as a wheel security device for commercial vehicles.
Rotabolt is undergoing trials with a major truck manufacturer on a number of its trucks.
Rotabolt works by providing a simple method of checking wheel tightening levels. The driver tests the cap of the Rotabolt which is affixed at the head of each wheel bolt. If the cap turns easily then the wheelnut is tightened. If the cap fails to turn easily, then the nut should be tightened immediately. Rod Corbett of Rotabolt says the system costs around £50 per wheel for a 17tonne rigid, though this price drops with volume orders.
