Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAN: LEAKING VALVE • MAN is recalling all its 6.5tonne to 10-tonne GVW MT range and all the 16.25-tonneGVW 16.170 models sold in the UK.

The models affected are the MT6.90, 8.90, 8.136, 9.136, 10.136 and the 16.170. Every vehicle sold since these models were first introduced into the UK is being called in.

MAN says that some of these vehicles could be fitted with a Grau pressure reduction valve in the braking system which in certain circumstances could leak air and release the handbrake.

The recall follows an investigation of a complaint from an MT owner whose parked vehicle rolled across his yard.

Approximately 3,100 MTs have been sold in the UK. MAN suspects that most have Wabco valves that are satisfactory, but is not sure how many have the Grau valve that could prove faulty and so is recalling all of them for a check.

MAN dealers will swop Grau valves for the directly interchangeable Wabco model; the operation takes about two hours.
