Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CHLORIDE AUTOMOTIVE has introduced a new range of batteries for the UK commercial vehicle original equipment market. They require no maintenance for two years, or 100,000 miles vehicle use.

But the batteries in the TIR range can be topped up in the normal way should they be affected by other vehicles' component failure or incorrect settings.

The new range features a lightweight polyproplene container, said to combine weight-saving with strength, as well as straight bar con struction of the inter-cell connector. This minimises voltage resistance and ensures higher initial voltage on-load and thus easier engine starting.

In addition, a new internal design locks the plates and container together, giving more vibration resistance.

The batteries come with carrying handles which, it is claimed, are able to withstand a load three times the battery's weight.

A shelf life of six months in a wet-charged condition is also claimed, and the use of Vyonguard vents, a unique safety venting arrangement developed by Chloride, make the risk of explosion from outside flames and sparks minimal.

In addition this greatly inhibits the spillage of acid should the battery be accidentally knocked over.

Chloride Automotive Batteries Ltd is at Chequers Lane, Dagenham, Essex RM9 6PX.
