• Mr. Peter Walker, Shadow Transport Minister, on Friday opened the new factory of Northern Trailer Co. Ltd., at Kirkintilloch.
The new factory, which will replace in part the old works at Bishopbriggs, has a workshop area of 24,000 sq.ft comprising five 160ft-long bays each served by overhead
ne facilities. Throughput in the new plant can comfortably reach 40 trailers a week and in a conversation with the managing director Mr. Harry Genis, COMMERCIAL MOTOR was assured that the company has sufficient future orders on its books to support it. Among the facilities offered at the new factory is one of the biggest weighbridges in Scotland. This is 40ft long and will weigh up to 40 tons; it is open for public use.
The company is to continue to manufacture its existing wide range of semi-trailer equipment, which includes flats, TIR-bodied types, tippers, coil carriers, skeletal container carriers, step-frame and low-loaders Models are built with single-, tandemand steerable or rigid three-axle bogies.
A new addition to the company's range is a dump trailer which utilizes the Villiers y t m of tipping about the rear axle.
