Sir Arnold Lindley, 65, chairman of the Engineering Industry Training Board, has been elected president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in succession to H. G. Conway, managing director of Bristol engine division, Rolls-Royce Ltd.

Alan Price has been appointed City of Oxford Motor Services traffic manager in succession to R. G. Roberts. who has taken up a similar post with the Potteries Motor Traction Co. Mr. Price is at present manager of Mexborough and Swinton Traction Co.

H. 0. Lochen has been appointed sales director of Adamson and Hatchett Ltd., Dukinfield, which recently began construction of trailers and containers (CM March 22). Adamson and Hatchett is an Acrow company. R. P. Miers has been elected chairman of the RHA milk carriers committee; J. L Boughey is vicechairman. G. W. Pell has been elected chairman of the agricultural hauliers committee; vice-chairman J. B. Dailey.

James Drake, who has been on loan to the Ministry of Transport from the Lancashire County Council to act as first director of the North Western Road Construction Unit, will be resuming his duties as county surveyor and bridgemaster at the end of November. When he joined the Ministry at the beginning of 1967, it was agreed between him, the County Council and the Ministry that his loan to the Ministry should be reconsidered when J. H. Dean, who was appointed acting county surveyor and bridgemaster in Mr. Drake's absence, reached retiring age next July.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the death of A Barry Cullen.

Mr. Cullen, who died at the age of 31. represented the York Trailer Co. Ltd. in South West England. He joined York in 1967 from Telehoist Ltd. of Cheltenham.
