Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN the last three months of 1956, 17,018 additional C-licence vehicles were introduced and [0,171 more C-licence holders came into being. During the year, the count r y-s ancillary fleet increased by 54,025, and 23,999 new operators took out C licences.

Last December there were 998,219 C-licence vehicles and 494,883 operators. By now there are probably a full million vehicles and half a million operators.

The following table analyses the changes in C-licence fleets and operators in 1956.

MOBILE TV FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL?

A DEMONSTRATION of television for controlling traffic, which was believed to be the largest of its kind so far staged in Europe, was organized at Lancaster over Easter week-end by the Lancashire County Police. Police officers from other parts of the country observed the tests, which were held on the approaches to Sk-erton Bridge, where all the traffic from north, south, east and west meets on the A6 road.

Four television cameras were mounted on lamp standards in the approaches to the bridge, and police cadets with portable radio sets were posted by each camera to adjust it. The monitor screens, placed in a van parked about 200 yd. north of the bridge, gave a picture of three miles of the routes under observation.

REAR-ENGINED LEYLANDS FOR LOWLAND

Td7Leyland prototype rear-engirted ouble-deckers have been purchased by Lowland Motorways, Ltd.. Glasgow, for stage services. The vehicles are the forerunners of the Atlantean and were first produced in 1954. They are of low overall height and have turbocharged Comet engines with Leyland centrifugal clutches.

One bus has a Wilson gearbox and has covered over 60,000 miles on demonstration to many English operators. The other vehicle has a Pneumocyclic gearbox. Front suspension is independent Bodywork is by SaundersRoe and M.C.W.
