Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CONSIDERABLE improvements, despite trade siepression, are revealed in vehicles which are being exhibited at the Fifth Annual International Milan Commercial Motor Show, closing tomorrow. Our Milan correspondent writes that more careful attention is being paid to details of construction and that there is now a general increase in efficiency, as compared with models shown at last, year's event.

Not only is the number of stands greater than last year, but the exhibits are more interesting. On the other hand, there is a marked decrease in the number of exhibits at the private-car show.

The outstanding features of the leading makes of vehicle are low chassis, oil engines, six wheels, giant tyres and efficient braking systems of improved types. On the Alfa-Romeo stand are to be seen some imposing chassis with Deutz oil engines, these power units having but recently been adopted. Great interest is being shown in the AlfaRomeo six-cylinder six-wheeler which has been built for bus work in Rome. Otherexhibits include light six-cylindered vehicles with attractive performances.

The Plat stand covers almost half of the big hall, writes our correspondent, and the exhibits range from 995 c.c. outfits to huge oil-engined lorries. The company has entered the "baby." field and shows two smart little vans with 997 e.e. four-cylindered engines; these vehicles are being sold at the lowest price ever reached in Italy (£135 in English currency). The Fiat display includes four-cylinder taxicabs, which are extremely popular in Italy, motor pumps with Bergomi equipment, tramtrolley repairing machines, tractors and big-capacity oil-engined lorries.

The O.M. concern stages lorries with Sauter oil engines, Lancia Eptaiota and Omicron chassis (the latter a sixwheeler for bus duty) appear in another part of the exhibition, whilst oil-eng-ined vehicles are shown by the M.A.N. company. Chevrolet light vans are on view, also a Renault oil-engined vehicle, Rogniwi trolley-buses and Turinelli low-built trolley-bus chassis.

In the trailer section there are exhibits by S.O.M., Corazza, Errant Carminati and Carenzi. Garavini is responsible for some elegant coachwork for long-distance vehicles.
