Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TIME TO HELP THE PUBLIC START APPRECIATING YOU...

There are times when it feels hard work continually justifying to the general public why you work in road transport. Hairy arsed truckers, juggernauts, the cause of all congestion and accidents and just a general nuisance... you name it, anyone who works in our industry has probably heard it.

But it isn't justif ied, and it certainly isn't fair. How else would the public be able to satisfy its thirst for 24-hour, seven-day-aweek shopping? Witness the panic that set in during the fuel strikes when supermarket shelves were completely cleared of food. There's no doubt that the fuel strikes achieved one thing making the public think about the role trucks play in everyday life. Sadly, it was a fairly short-lived appreciation and we're now back to the bottom of the popularity stakes again.

But there's no point in just bleating on about our industry's lack of fans. That's why Commercial Motor and MAN's Friends of the Road Transport Industry organisation are launching a sticker campaign this week to help get the public thinking about the contribution trucks make to their everyday lives.

We've got to make people realise just how much they depend on road transport which is why the stickers stress that 95% of everything we use is delivered by trucks. They're highly visible and designed for the back of trucks and trailers and they're free.

"We've got to make people realise just how much they depend on road transport"

All you have to do is send us a stamped, self-addressed envelope capable of taking the A4 size stickers. Put the number of stickers you would like in a circle in the top left hand corner of your SAE, send your requests to CM Sticker Offer, Commercial Motor, Quadrant House, The Quadrant, Sutton, Surrey, SM2 5AS and we'll do the rest.

We could just carry on bleating about the public hating us... but then again we could do something to help them realise how much they need us;
