Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Rob Willock • Operators in South Yorkshire are being invited to help the police trace stolen commercial vehicles, following the launch of Truckwatch in the region today (Thursday).

PC Gary Cooper is recruiting operators to join the scheme, and already has 95 companies, operating 4,000 trucks, on board. "Until now HGV and trailer theft has been treated, we admit, in a minor vein," says Cooper. "We've been Truck theft: South Yorkshire approaching the theft of a police plan to clamp down

£100,000 artic in the same way we would a rusty

Metro. But with Truckwatch it will become much more urgent."

Under the scheme, the police circulate details of stolen vehicles to members, whose drivers are encouraged to report any sightings.

Following its launch in Norfolk, Truckwatch has cut CV theft by 65%, claims Cooper. He is now trying to secure insurance discounts for Truckwatch members.
