August figures
COMMERCIAL vehicle production (seasonally adjusted) in August was below the average of recent months, according to provisional estimates by the Department of Industry.
The August production figure of 20,000 vehicles was down on the previous month's figure of 22,500 vehicles.
However, the August total compares favourably with that of August 1981, when a seasonally adjusted figure of only 17,000 was reached.
Production in the first eight months of 1982 was 18 per cent above the severely depressed level of a year earlier.
THE Abercynon-Pentrebach section of the A470 Cardiff-Merthyr Tydfil trunk road will be completed in just under two years.
