Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rhe survey, carried out by irket research company Mart Location, is the result of inviewing transport managers .oughout the UK to find details their commercial vehicle and r fleets. Of the 47,225 locations Tveyed, 38,105 used commeril vehicles; a total of 365,000 immercial vehicles were ierated which is just over 20 r cent of the UK total.

Among the facts to emerge rn the survey is the continu) strong preference for the direct purchase (either outright or hire purchase) of commercial vehicles despite the heavy promotion of contract hire and leasing. Of the 38,105 commercial vehicle users interviewed, 84 per cent said they still purchased their own vehicles; leasing and contract hire accounted for just seven per cent and five per cent respectively.

But more than 40 per cent of all the managers used rental commercial vehicles on occasions and 57 per cent used outside hauliers either regularly or occasionally. Express parcels services were used by 53 per cent.

The survey information is presented in the form of a computer print-out and includes the following information about each company location surveyed; name, address, phone number, transport manager's name, size and type of vehicle fleet, vehicle makes, nature of the company's business and the details summarised above.

The survey is intended to be used as a selling and marketing tool for people such as vehicle manufacturers, dealers, hauliers and parcels carriers, vehicle rental and finance companies or anyone else likely to be selling a transport product or service to the companies listed.

Maps are supplied with the survey and each company address is accompanied by a map reference to enable the salesman to find the customer easily.

Market Location will supply the survey in individual counties (a small county will cost about £300) or as a complete UK package costing a hefty £35,000.

The success of the survey has already prompted a second one and this will start next month with 50,000 different transport managers to be interviewed.

Market Location is at 17 Waterloo Place, Warwick Street, Leamington Spa.
