MITCHELL Cotta, the international engineering and transport group, has taken over the entire contract hire fleet of Avis and its subsidiaries in the UK, together with four of Avis' existing depots, and the 36 vehicle fleet of Reigate Warehouses at Epsom and Leatherhead.

The Avis takeover means that contract hire activity of Mitchell Cotts is increased by about 500 commercial vehicles under contract to 150 customers.

The new vehicles will be absorbed into the company's existing network of branches.

The purchasing of the Reigate Warehouses fleet has allowed Mitchell Cats Transport Services to set up a new depot at Leatherhead. The depot is fully operational and is specialising in the vehicle maintenance for Reigate Warehouses and other customers vehicles based in the area.

A NEW factory has been set up in Kilmarnock, Scotland to produce brake pads for the replacement and automotive DIY markets, It is part of the restructuring operation of holding company Walkdon Industries, following its takeover earlier this year of three companies — TUK, the Redditch based auto component manufacturer and distributor, Mach Frictions, the TUK brand company, and Fingal Engines, a Scottish auto engineering company.
