• A firm was severely criticized, last week, by Mr W. M. Levitt, Metropolitan deputy LA, for not taking seriously enough the matter of an 0 licence application. The firm, Oshwal Enterprises Ltd, of Bartholomew Road, London NW5, was applying for an 0 licence for one vehicle already in possession, two to be acquired within one year and a further five within a period of five years.

Oshwal Enterprises is a firm staffed entirely by Indians; the firm's representative, company secretary Mr Mohindra D. Shah, said that the regulations regarding maintenance and drivers' hours had been made clear to their employees. However, no evidence was produced to show that arrangements had been made for scheduled maintenance; neither had adequate provision been made for overnight parking for the vehicles in their possession. The company's application was, therefore, refused and the representative was advised to apply again only when he was sure the conditions of the licence were satisfied.
