An unusual use for a lorry which had been taken off' the road was disclosed at Bedford borough magistrates' court when Rupert Geddes, of Chaucer Road, Bedford, pleaded guilty to charges of possessing cannabis and Cultivating two cannabis plants. The prosecution alleged that after the local firm which employed Geddes had taken several vehicles off the road it was found that the cab of one lorry was being used as a greenhouse to cultivate two cannabis plants. Specimens of herbal cannabis were, it was alleged, found in Geddes's home after he had denied any knowledge of this horticultural experiment He was fined £35 on each charge and was also ordered to pay 20 guineas costs.
