Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Last Friday morning the 25th Commercial Motor Show was officially declared open at Earls Court by Sir Hugh Tett, former chairman of the Motor Manufacturing Economic Development Committee.

Particularly warm applause greeted his statement that "I share with the companies represented in this Exhibition, the hope that the days of Government selection of the motor industry as a special and independent regulator of the national economy are past. I also hope that international Government co-operation will reduce the load on the

industry of a multiplicity of differing national regulations affecting the design and use of vehicles—and, last but not least, I hope that a prosperous industry, able to plan ahead with confidence, will provide job satisfaction and job security which will help to bring industrial peace and an end to unnecessary and crippling strife and strike."

The Show remains open until 9 pm today and from 10 am to 9 pm tomorrow, Saturday.
