Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

under 30cwt unladen, drawing a fourwheeled close-coupled trailer weighing less than 1 ton unladen (attached by normal caravan type ball hitch) need to be plated and tested? (Towing vehicle 29cwt unladen, trailer 19cwt unladen): Are only overrun brakes required?

AIf the towing vehicle is a goods vehicle

and it was first used after January 1 1968 it must be fitted with a manufacturer's plate. It does not, however, have to be submitted for an MoT goods vehicle test, neither does it have to be plated by the MoT. It does, however, have to be submitted for the MoT light vehicle and private car test on the third anniversary of its original date of registration and annually thereafter.

The trailer does not have to be plated or tested under either scheme (i.e. the hgv or light vehicle tests).

Overrun brakes are sufficient if the gross weight of the trailer and its load is not more than 34tons.
