Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TO meet a change of distribution policy by the H. J. Heinz company Contract A licences in Scotland are being converted to normal A. This was indicated by Mr. Joseph Wright, director of J. and R. Wright (Haulage) Ltd., the Glasgow operators to the Scottish Licensing Authority. last Friday. His firm operated a Contract A licence for four vehicles of in tons for Heinz and had done so for some time in respect of two of these.

There had now been a change in the customers' activities, said Mr. Wright, by the introduction of goods of the Heinz

international organization. These associated goods could not be carried on Contract A vehicles and the intention was to convert to normal A to allow this to be done, The proposed normal user was altered by taking out the word "mainly", confining the dominant work to distribution for the two associated companies in south-west Scotland, operating from the Heinz base in Paisley.

It was indicated that there had been earlier applications for other operators in the southern Scottish area and that this current proposal was in line with that

pattern. Mr. W. F. Quin granted the convei sion to normal A.

Grant for West Yorkshire and Ribble: An application by the West Yorkshire Road car Co. Ltd., in conjunction with Ribble Motor Services Ltd., was granted by the North Western Traffic Commissioners at Manchester last week following the withdrawal of the objectors, British Railways. Both operators ran a joint service from Liverpool to Scarborough and from Blackpool to Scarborough and wanted an additional picking-up point at Filey. More than 30 Witnesses supported the application.
