National Finalists Beaten in Express Competition

FOR eight years now the Express Dairy Co. Ltd. has been running its COMMTV Driver of the Year competition and every year the final has been blessed by ‘ood weather. Last Sunday's was no xception and although a chill wind kept .pectators below the .usual number the drivers from Express depots all over he country went through the four 'riving tests in bright sunshine. Among the competitors were six l'xpress Dairy stars who had been uccessful in the National L.D.O.Y. competition, including J. Dakin, National hampion, 1963:and winner again in 1964 t Northampton. J. Jones, a winner at iouthall and champion in class E.2 at ;oventry a fortnight ago, and M. Blandford, E. Butler, S. Howes and J. Morris who each won classes in local eliminating rounds.
The surprising thing about the Express Dairy final was that none of these six men could manage to get in the first eight at Ruislip. The best performance among them was .1. Morris who came ninth. The winner, J. Hudson, had won the Express Dairy championship once before—about five years ago --and another previous winner was N. Puig.
