I T is now known that the following will present papers at the Road Haulage Association Conference at Eastbourne (October 26-28): Mr. J. S. Orme (Under Secretary, Ministry of Transport), whose 'paper will be " Road safety aspects of the work of the Ministry "; Mr. W. Hall (chairman, heavy vehicle section, S.M.M.T.), "Road safety and construction of vehicles "; Mr. F. Collins (member, West Midland maintenance advisory committee), "Vehicle maintenance and committees "; Mr. G. D. Corpe is 3ne of the most prominent solicitors in he transport licensing world.

HOWE'S-REDBURNLINK?

THE Enfield, Middlesex, company of E. E. Howe's Transport Ltd., which Las taken over several transport concerns it the past three years, is now compleing negotiations to acquire the longstablished concern of its near ieighbour, L. T. Redburn Ltd. Some 0 vehicles and more than 100 semirailers are involved in the transaction, rhich will be added to the present fleet f 90 vehicles operated by Howe's.

If the negotiations are concluded satisactorily—a spokesman for E. E. Howe's 'ransport Ltd. gave polling day, October 15, as the expected date for the -ansfer—the concern formed some 40 ears ago by Mr. E. E. Howe and now in by his son, R. E. Howe, will take ver the name, fleet and goodwill of the edburn concern whose family connecons with transport go back more than

years.

Redburn's Brimsdown depot is expecd to be used for a short time after the ansfer by Howe's on a rental basis.
