MT Stand 143 Charles Pitt (Barton Stacey) Ltd., Barton Stacey, nr. Winchester, Hants

ANEW air suspension and an operating Forelode are the main attractions shown by Pitt. The new air suspension, known as the Pittai re, has been designed with an eye on the tanker market and consequently the unladen

weight is low. The other features built into this suspension are that ills maintenance free, has big brakes, a very low unsprung weight and complete independent suspension on all wheels. A coil carrier built to carry a 20-top concentrated load and saving nearly two tons on the conventional unit of this type is shown as a joint effort of Pitt and Duramin Ltd., the latter making the light alloy frame and Pitt the suspension.

A ground-level-loading trailer that has several advantages over the standard lowloader, known as the Forelode, is capable of lowering its front end to the ground to facilitate easy loading of light and medium plant and machinery. Using very powerful hydraulic legs in place of the usual landing gear, the Forelode is capable of lifting a 10-ton pointload located over the pivot point of the gear. Among the other advantages of this type are that the full effective length of the body (which can now be 33 ft.) can be used, oneman operation is perfectly easy and the trailer can be used for general haulage.

A 17-ton, tandem-axle trailer built for B.R.S. completes this company's exhibits.
