Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Transport Equipment (7 hornycroft) Ltd., Basingstoke, Hants.

AS in previous Commercial Motor Shows, specialized types of vehicle are to be seen on the Thornycroft Stand. There are three exhibits—the new Nubian Major 6 x 6, the earlier Nubian 6 x 6 and the largest and most powerful vehicle to be seen at Earls Court, the Mighty Antar.

The Nubian Major, which was described in the September 4 issue of The Commercial Motor, was developed by Thornycroft to meet the needs for a high-performance fire crash tender capable of carrying a greater quantity of water, foam compound and so on than the existing Nubian, and of providing more body space. The design is based on components used on vehicles produced already by the exhibitors, except that a Cummins V8 300 b.h.p. gross engine is used to provide the necessary power and speed. A fluid clutch and air-operated epicyclic gearbox take the drive to an auxiliary gearbox which with the axles is also used on the A.E.C. Militant cross-country chassis.

The Nubian 6 x 6 appears more or less as it was shown at the last Commercial Motor Show, but with an H.C.B.Angus fire/crash tender body and equipment. The power unit is a Rolls-Royce eight-cylinder petrol engine.

Towering above the other two exhibits is the Mighty Antar, which also is little changed from the last Show, having the Rolls-Royce eight-cylinder supercharged diesel producing 366 b.h.p at 2,100 r.p.m.
