VERSATILITY the theme of the Land-Rover exhibits v at the Show, the many applications for the vehicle when operating a power take-off with optional equipment being shown. There have been no recent changes in the specification or design and on the stand there are 10 of the well-established, normal-control Land-Rover 4 x 4 models.
All of the vehicles featured are fitted with items of factory-approved special equipment and many are an the colours of companies which use Land-Rovers extensively.
Dealing first with the standard 88-in.-wheelbase model. of which there are five on the stand, one has a generator mounted on the tailboard driven from a rear power takeoff. Another is fitted with a Hayter welder mounted in the centre-seat position and driven from the centre power takeoff by pulleys and Vee. belt; a B.E.N. compressor driven from the rear power take-off is fitted to the tailboard. The Power Trailer Axle Conversion, which incorporates a Scottorn Bushmaster two-wheel trailer with a driven axle. is shown and the.Land-Rover has a Plummet winch over the centre seat. A 12-seater station wagon is shown, and the 111th Short-wheelbase model is equipped as an Edgehill Aircraft Baggage. Loader, as supplied to B.E.A. and 3.0.A.C.
One of five 109-in.-wheelbase versions shown is fitted with several items of approved equipment, including a frontmounted capstan winch, an air compressor by Westinghouse, a refrigerant compressor by Normalair and bottom, centre and rear power take-offs. These items demonstrate the various harnessing points on the Land-Rover. The other four long-wheelbase models are a pick-up, an ambulance conversion by Pilehers, a ,diesel-engined pick-up with a Simon Hydraulic Platform, ancEnother •diesel-engined model fitted with a Broom and .Wade compressor.
