IIREE of the new A.E.C. goods vehiclesa Mandator 691, a Marshal 505 and a Mercury 471--and a bus rsion of the new Swift 505 rear-engined passenger chassis ll be the main attraction on this stand. The largest gine in the new range—the AV760-will be shown also a sectioned working model. Completing the A.E.C. aibits are a Mammoth Major 6 Mk. V and a Renown v-height, double-decker bus which will have a Park ryal 72-seat body.

kll three of the new goods models will be fitted with A.E.C. version of the new all-steel cab which can be °tilted to give complete accessibility to the engine and auxiliaries in about 10 seconds. Features of the interior worth inspection are the heating and ventilation system (which incorporates a Smiths 7 kW unit) the high standard of trim and the amount of glazed area, which makes for excellent visibility.

With the sectioned AV760, all four of the re-designed vertical engines made by A.E.C. can be seen. The Mandator has the AV09 f. producing 205 b.h.p., the model being an 8-ft.-wheelbase tractive unit of 32 tons gross train weight. The Marshal double-drive six-wheeler is designed for a gross weight of 22 tons and is fitted with the AV505, 154 b.h.p. engine, whilst the Mercury 16-ton gross fourwheeler has the AV471. giving 143 b.h.p. The three chassis have six-speed, constant-mesh gearboxes with overdrive,and the braking system in each case is full air with airassisted handbrakesA.E.C. use triple-diaphragm chambers at the rear axle or axles.

Fitted in the Mammoth Major 6 is the AV690 sixcylinder diesel—which is to A.E.C.'s earlier design, having wet instead of dry liners, as in the new units. The exhibit has a clear plastics display cab, the chassis being the one that was shown by A.E.C. at the last Geneva Show and is designed for a gross train weight of 50 tons when used with a trailer.

The Swift 505 was described in the September 4 issue of The Commercial Maim', and has the horizOntal version of the 505 engine mounted at the rear of the chassis, Worth looking at is, the compact layout of engine and cooling system with the radiator mounted on the right-hand sidemember. The Renown low-height. double-decker bus is for North Western Road Car Co. Ltd., and has the AV590 wet-liner engine.
