Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I Light vehicle operators looking for a bargain were snapping-up virtually brand new Volkswagen LT451) vans from TNT this week, at up to one-third off their list price.

TNT's Ramshottom, Lancashire, depot has been advertising in trade magazines and national newpapers in order to sell off some 70 of its LT45 turbo diesel vans — bought originally by the express freight and parcels carrier for its News International contract.

The 4.6-tonne GVW panel vans are being sold for £8,500 — i'.4.144 off the manufacturer's normal list price of 212,644. According to the advertisements, the vans have only delivery mileages on the clock and are unused. They are also still covered by the manufacturer's warranty for a limited period.

The 70 LT45Ds are believed to be surplus to TNT's requirements and the proceeds from their sale will be reinvested in the company. When CM called Ramsbottom on Tuesday (October 21) there were only 20 vans left unsold.

TNT's managing director Alan Jones told CM that the nature of the News International contract had changed, allowing the company to use fewer vehicles. Jones says that TNT suggested that the surplus vehicles be disposed of to its client, News International, to help reduce operating costs.
