Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The British Standard relating to spray suppression (BS AU200) has recently had two important amendments.

The first concerns the ground clearance of the spray suppression flaps — always a contentious point since the draft regulations were published. The regulation previously required the bottom edge of flaps to come within 150min of the ground when the vehicle is unladen. This has now been amended to 200nun to give more ground clearance when the vehicle is laden.

For the rear axle on trailers used on ro-ro ferries, or on any axle where the radial distance of the lower edge of the outer valancing does not exceed the radius of the tyre, the ground clearance can be up to 300mm when the vehicle is unladen.

The second amendment refers to the performance specification for suppression material and devices, and air/ water separators (ie Cats Whiskers). This has been upgraded from 60% efficiency to 65% efficiency.
